WIND DRIFT

Post by bkhartman »

Hornady factory chart says .5" drift for 32gr V-Max at 400 in a 10 mph wind. I'm zeroed at 200y and whacked 2 chucks at 150 & 165y, spot on POI. Couldn't connect on the 400y one. Had a 10-12 mph wind R-L (gage). Drop was as advertised at that range but, drift was around 12". Solid rest, lead sled. Hold overs to correct 12"U & 12"R and hit a small rock at the 400y range. Does that much drift seem correct considering those factors? Thanks Brian Sorry if this gets posted twice, I lost it the first time.

At 400 yards with a full value 90degree wind at 10 mph the drift would be more like 18 inches. That explains your misses.
