Tell you what Hornet.. If you do not have one, get a 204 Ruger and no one will have to tell you how good it is. You will learn very fast and have a blast with it. Varmints, targets and just plain old plinking around will give you a whole new world to enjoy . Bill K

Your post topic is a bit misleading.
If you're in need of some helpful advice then ask the right question and we'll gladly help.
Have fun with your 204. We all do with ours

Ah baiting huh? That's fine. the 204 will shoot further, faster than the Hornet and just as cheap, but soooo much better, it is not even funny. As for the Swift, I have one also, but it has been put away, mothballs, as the 204 shoots sweeter, less problems working loads, quieter and less recoil, just to name a few things.. ;) bill K

I can't comment on the 22 hornet but my .204 shoots like a laser beam and sends squirrels into low-earth-orbit, usually in several pieces. Good enuf for me! Plus you can get one in an AR-15 if you have the budget for lotsa ammo!

Boy Howdy, 22 Hornet, you're asking for a real bodily pounding here by questioning the mighty 204 Ruger on a forum loaded with 204 shooters/experts. Why..... some of these guys have shot a 20 caliber rifle for almost as long as the 204 Ruger has been around. That's a lot of experience to challenge with comments like yours. :D

When you consider the number of posters, there might be maybe well over 100 years of collective experience here. How can any of it be wrong....? :chin: I learned early on here when the 204 Ruger was a totally new item to the world that the 204 Ruger/20 caliber was the best thing recently invented, even though some folks had been shooting other 20 caliber rifles with a lot more efficient cartridge designs than the 204 Ruger for years.

HORNET you say....Hornet...? isn't that some kind of bee or something......heck when I was a young'un...I shot with Davy Crockett at wild Bill Hickocks ranch with Annie Oakley and Alvin York....well we blasted all kinds of critters with that thar .204....Think Danel Boone even killed a bar with it....Had to walk home through the snow....bare footed...uphill (both ways)...dodging those wolves that live in the swamp.... :hic:
