Buy a Cooper rifle, great shooters and less than a custom build. I'm sure other Cooper shooters will chime in later!

In the upper end, Cooper.. is a great one. For a good bargin, but good value, check out Legacy Sports and the Howa 1500, various models and barrels i.e. light to heavy target.. BIll K

I would suggest a Cooper, a Cooper, or maybe a Cooper! Actually a tremendous value for what you get. No way you can build that kind of quality on your own for the same money.

Re: im buying a new gun help!!!!
If you own and shoot a Ruger No.1V now, you're just gonna love a Cooper. Like the others have said, you can't build a custom rig, especially on a custom action for close to the same cost of even a new Cooper, nor get the pretty much standard degree of accuracy these rifles demonstrate right out of the box. All of mine shoot 1/4" or less at 100 yards with any decent handload.
If accuracy, efficient design, fit/finish/craftsmanship and pure beauty to behold interest you, then there may be a Cooper in your future. After I purchased and shot my first one, I was convinced and now own "more than one". I'm a picky bugger too, and these rifles really do float my boat.

A friend once told me "Life is too short to hunt with ugly rifles"....... I believe him.

I love my CZ rifles so i have to give them a plug. I agree with Bill that the Howa 1500 is an excellent rifle for the money. Also agree with the others that Cooper makes an excellent rifle. You could also have Bob Green build you a Custom Rifle, he is an excellent gunsmith.
Re: im buying a new gun help!!!!
I love my Thompson Encore because it shoots extremely well and I get satisfaction out of break action shooting. You have to make one count. My Thompson has shot both factory and reloads with more than expected results. For me the added bonus is that if I come across a barrel of another/rare sort I can get it for pretty low cost and have more than just a .204.
Thomson Encore .204

I prefer manufacturers that have not supported an administration that tries to hide illegal gun running, and attacks on the 2nd Amendment.

Re: im buying a new gun help!!!!
With all due respect, I'd encourage you to do the same. One man, for whatever reason, chose to donate some of his personal funds to the Obama campaign. That man is no longer a part of Cooper firearms. Buy whatever floats your boat, but snubbing Cooper for this reason makes no logical sense.RedLeg wrote:I prefer manufacturers that have not supported an administration that tries to hide illegal gun running, and attacks on the 2nd Amendment.

With all due respect, I did do my research, hence my post, thank you. How do you separate personal funds generated by company funds? Please explain that logic. Does "that man" still have an ownership stake?Mike wrote:With all due respect, I'd encourage you to do the same. Re: im buying a new gun help!!!!
I totally agree, each of us spend our money and make donations as we we see fit. To hold it against someone or snub them, is not right. We all would probably hold something against each one of us, if we knew what we spend our money on, especially if the other person did not support the same agenda.. But in the long run, I will never fault you on where you spend/donate your money and you should do like wise to me and others. Just my thought and $.02 worth.. To that very end I'll add that I like a good movie. But if I held a grudge against all the liberal dumb a$$ Hollywood actor types in those movies because of their socialist liberal views and the politicians they support, I'd most likely never get to see ANY movies.
This subject about D.C. has been hashed ad nauseum here and elsewhere, and I for one am tired of it. Get over it, it's time to move on. The spring varmint season is looming ahead, I've got better things to do than read this regurgatated tripe on a forum dedicated to the .20 cal and all the fun it offers.
Hey, how about this leeloader guy and his new rifle? Remember him?
