First kill with .204 today.

Post by tpcollins »

Went to the range today with my new Tikka, some Hornady factory loads, and a small ladder test of different loads for 32gr Nosler and 39gr BK. Evidentally it's unwise to put two wide targets up horizontally while shooting thru a chrony. I couldn't find where the bullet went but after checking the fps, I found where it went. I guess that bull on the lower right was wider than the shooting V of the chrony . . .Image

Uh- huh....part of the learning curve, and it does suck. :?

Whenever I post my targets at 100 yds, I always look down the bore with the rifle in the bags at each/every target prior to putting the bolt in the rifle just to avoid such events. So far, so good.......

Sorry for your mishap....just think though, you're much smarter now.

I always like to see the word 'kill' in the topic subject,........but not that type of kill.

I'm laughing but feeling your pain at the same time. At this point all you can do is laugh.
It's hard to detect good luck, It looks so much like something you've worked hard for and earned.

There is an old saying... There those that have shot their chronograph, and there are those that WILL shoot their chronograph.

Just be happy that it was only an upright and not the box itself.

I put a .40 S&W 170 gr lead semi-wad cutter right though my chrony, killed it dead right there. The kind lady at Shooting Chrony recommended the teathered display for "shooter like me." :D

Horror tales I don't want to hear!! :D

I just got my first Chrony, a Shooting Chrony F1, and I really hope that I don't shoot it. I know I've had to go cold range a couple of times to get it adjusted just right. Heck, I even forgot my diffusers the other day, but it still worked okay.

But, yes, it does worry me that I'm going to put a round through it.

The 'have already' or 'will' sounds an awful lot like pilots of retractable landing gear airplanes, those that have landed with the gear up and those who will. Checklists are nice. :)
