New to the .204 Ruger.

Post by callaojoe »

Just picked up my first .204 Ruger on Saturday, and I am really looking forward to getting started with it. This is my first post, and thought I'd say hello.

Rifle is a Ruger MK77VT in .204 Ruger.

I have heard some mixed reviews, although most are favorable to this rifle. I expect that It will be a shooter, but look forward to finding out. I reload for several other cartridges, including .223 Rem, .243 Win, .260 Rem, .270 Win, .280 Rem, 30-06, and .357, 9mm and .45 ACP pistols. The .260 & .280 Rems being my favorite.

Was able to get decent groups from my Rem 700 Mountain LSS in .260 Rem. And, expect better with this .204. My .280 is a Cooper Mod52 classic, and well... I'd have to try to get it to shoot poorly. this group is from my 22" barrel'd Rem 260.

I know Big Bullseye and Glen Asher via Missouri Whitetails Forum.

And, yes..... Even though I know them, I sill signed up over here. :wall:

See, I told you they don't bite over here. :)

If you're nice, we'll let you hang around awhile. Even if you DO shoot a Remington and a Cooper, we'll forgive you anyway, and let you loaf around with us.

This is a pretty mellow place, most of the time. If you have questions, and you will, ask here, and someone will know the answer, most likely.

If you get the chance, shoot Todd's 6 br LRPV, and then see what you think about those Savages. Or Leo's LRPV in .204, or heck, just any LRPV...........That's one heckuva rifle, and it should be............

Some day I hope to shoot one of those....

My biggest problem with buying a Savage at this point, is never hearing the end of it from Leo......:D

I've owned them in the past, and would again... But, may be stealthy about it.

I haven't seen him get the better of you yet, when you two go at it   He usually gets the short end. Heck, even I like to pick at him  now and then.

He's an awful good sport about it all, too. He has to be...........

Welcome to the forum! I have the same rifle, have had it for several years, and found that it shoots a wide variety of bullets and powder...not finicky at all....I think you'll enjoy it, the caliber and this forum.....

I have to warn you though that .20's are habit forming :!: : I've got 3 .204's and two .20VT's......and thinking about a .20 TAC upper in the AR format

callaojoe-- Image to the .204 Ruger Forum.

That is a nice looking rifle and shoots pretty good too.

PS--Is that a Nikon scope on your rifle?

CJs good people, he even has a few 1911s to play with. And Shamu, his muscleloader.

And Callao is close to my home town in Missouri, Marceline.

That Scope is a 4x16x50 Nikon Monarch. I had it on my Cooper, but have decided I want something like a 4.5x14x40 or 50 Leupold VX-3 for it. So, figured that the Nikon would make a good scope for this .204.

That group I posted is not from my .204, but my Remington 700 Mountain LSS in .260 Remington. That rifle has a thin profile 22" barrel, and it weighs a nice light 6.5 lbs. thought that was a pretty nice group for a rifle like that. I expect to do better with this Ruger......
