M77 204 Report
I picked up a ruger m77 target a few weeks back. I dont hear much about them on the board but took the chance on it. I didnt have a scope picked out for it yet so uncle melvin gave me a loaner scope to use for the time being. Thanks Melvin. Anyhow i hit the range sunday afternoon to try it out and after a little tweaking it was shooting pretty darn good at 100yrds.
For no really good load development i used the loads that i used in my cz varmint.C.O.A.L. is to long to feed down into the magazine wich i will have to work on.I feel it proved its self to be a keeper considering the crosshairs completly covered the red dot at 100yrds.
Thanks Melvin for loaning me the scope to play with my new toy.

Re: M77 204 Report
Clint E I have a 77VT just like yours and it is one of the best shooters I have ever had. I load 32gr V-Max and BLc-2 max load or near to it. It will shoot .2 to .3 C. to C. 5 Shot groups and has shot my best group of my life .171 Center to center at 100yds. I have a cheap 6.5 to 20X50 with 1/8 target dot scope on it.
Good luck with your Ruger even though I am a Savage man now converted from Rem. Ha Ha

Re: M77 204 Report
It shot so good with the 32s I never tried the 39 or 40s. I have a TC encore 26 inch that likes the 32 also,& I load for 2 other 204s that like the 32. the longest distance we shoot is about 400 yds. if we shoot over that we use the 22-250 or 243 or 25-06.Clint E wrote:Thanks guys i have picked out my glass for her. I started with the 40 v max and i dont think i will ever change. My bro in law donated to my cause some reload of different grains and all but the varment gernades work under and inch at 100. I am sold! Keep on talkin guys and i will keep on listening. by the way songdogs look out the 243 may have worn out but i bought my self a new ride

Re: M77 204 Report
SongdogMB i bummed a few 32grn v-maxs off of my uncle and my m77 grouped better with 32s than it did with 39s.
Going to do more experimenting when the luepy gets mounted on it.
Congrats on the 204 they are addicting .A little load tweaking and you will be able to get them way under a half inch .

My son has a vt in .204 and I have one in .223, both rifles shoot good groups, we use them here in Australia for commercial kangaroo shooting.

Re: M77 204 Report
My bro in law just bought a 77VT in 204, uses 40 grain vmax's and varget and this thing is a real SHOOTER! The gun appears to HATE barnes VG's. I gave him some of my ammo using various bullets and powders and the bloody thing just shoots great. Going to be a tough winter with 2 rifles in 204 in the truck......I no longer have an advantage.....LOL!
