204 BR?

Anyone heard of this? I went to Cabelas today and they had a custom remington 700 in "204 BR" made by a guy named Ray Smith (If I remember correct). I asked them about it and they said they knew nothing about it. No dies, no reloading data, nothing. I was really interested in it but I cant spend 1600 bucks on a gun i know nothing about. Any Ideas?

If that gun has a fast twist barrel it would be a nice outfit to make use of some of the Berger 55 grain bullets avaliable now. It would be competitive at some longer ranges with much less recoil and muzzle blast than other larger cartridges.

So could it be concluded that the "204 BR" Is the same as the 20 BR?

Actually I just made that assumption. I guess a 204 BR could be a different chambering from the 20 BR though, I have never come accross a mention of a 204 BR. I guess the safe thing to do would be to find out what the chamber reamer dimensions are or get a chamber casting before firing it.

They could be using the "204" as a means to make the cal. more popular. We have all read stories about how the name can hurt or help the cartridge.

Several guys on saubier.com have .20BRs, it's getting pretty popular as far as wildcats go. It's been around longer than the .204 has, by far, and it's included in Todd Kindler's book "The Terrific Twenties", at least it's pretty well known, if you need data, let me know and I'll dig up my copy......

as we all know the .204 is a .20 cal but the BR is down to the shell ..the man in the shop must of ment 20br ..
