I`ve got the same rifle and in my opinion, it probably needs some more rounds down the tube.
The only thing i`ve done to mine is a Timney trigger, and my best group so far is .300 with 39g B/Kings and benchmark.
Mine has about 700 rounds through it.
Hope this helps, but if you need anything else just ask.
Jamie. :)
I only have to be lucky once,
the fox has to be lucky every time!

I have been getting the best groups with 27.5 gr. Benchmark and 32 gr. blitz.
Havent done much experimenting yet,but I have a box of 39 gr blitz to play with.Had some good success with 32 gr vmax, although at lower velocities.
had the trigger worked when I bought it,but Im thinking about installing a Timney this spring,Matt

I have a lv sf whatever I did I could not get it to shoot less than
2'' at 100yds I removed the push pad in the end of the stock and
the barrel was still in contact with the stock for a quick test
I put 5-6 layers of eletrical tape in the stock just ahead of
action and put gun back togeather, there is probably .050''
between barrel and stock. After this quick crude test the gun
started shooting less than 1'' at 100yds I was able to find load
that would shoot .400-.500'' at 100yds for now the tape stays
untill i beb the action the load was 27.1gr of benchmark
32gr blitz king OAL 2.250 this is one of the loads that shot
over 2'' before i did the stock altercations

All my 700s shoot much better after bedding and a trigger job.I havent had thelvsf done yet but plan to do so when I have a new trigger installed.I have a 700 heavy barrel in 6 mm thats 35 yrs old and still shoots cloverleafs with no more done to it but bedding and trigger.Im still developing loads for the others as time permits, but in my opinion, with a little tinkering, the 700 will shoot pretty good without having to break the bank,Matt

Put mine into an H-S precision pro series stock and it made things noticeably better, and more user friendly with the removeable mag set up. Went from just under an inch groups, to under 3/4" groups with factory ammo.

Since been sold. Sold the stock about a month ago and the bottom metal/magazine parts months ago. It was nice, technically in Michigan you have to unload you rifle completely "when not calling", and any time a rifle is cased......so with loading/unloading all the time the blind mag setup was a pain. HS is really proud of they're detach mag set ups($200+) and I had to special order they're 223 mag (held 4 .17's, 5th would pop out), probably easier to go with just buying the factory floorplate trigger guard/magwell/follower/spring. Brownells sells the stock and some of the other parts, do a search for pro series stock on they'r site, should be there somewhere.

picked up my 204 and 243 lvsf today from smith he set triggers at 2.5lbs. I tried the tape shims and they both shot much much better now I must decide wether to bed myself or pay someone. even found a coyote to try the 204 on dead dog.
