300yd Groups

Post by adam »

Hi all. Was out on the weekend with a friend shooting targets at 300yds. He has been having problems with his .222 ppc. I took my Ruger M77 mk11 for a spin and had a couple of goes at shooting a group at 300. Was just wondering what others on here have managed at this range. My scope only zooms to 14x but I managed a group of about an 1 inch. Two holes were touching and the third about half inch off. I think thats good!!! For me anyway, and it was off a bipod on a frozen field. I was shooting 32gr v-max over 26.5gr of H322 with CCI BR4 primers.

Nice shooting, especially with a 14X scope. Now get out there and do it again. I spent the WHOLE summer of 07 trying to shoot five shots touching at 300 yards. I came Soooo close so many times. Most of the time it was the fifth shot being the bad egg when I got a good start :wall: .

I had a blast trying and learned a lot doing so. Finding the most comfortable bench was one of the hardest parts. But that elusive 5 shot bug hole that will fit under a dime isn't easy. I had lots of 3 in one hole with two fliers or bad shots... Didn't shoot my LRPV much last year. My Predator and AR got all the match action. Maybe this year I'll try to organize a 300 yard Club benchrest match :chin: . We have everything but. This way I'll have mandatory weekly trigger time :D .

That might be pretty fun. Us eastern guys might have the benefit of much less wind doping. My range is cut out in the middle of a woodlot.

That is a very impressive group. I am finally keeping mine under 2.5 "
