You've no doubt heard about the Quantas flight that had an emergency landing in the Phillipines this week, after an explosive decompression that put a huge hole in the fuselage of the 747.
It was piloted by one of OUR POSTERS HERE , jb747, and he did a spectacular job of getting it to the ground safely and without harming any passengers. John hasn't posted here much lately, but he's pretty active on some Aussie websites.
Three cheers for a job well done, John!

I just seen that plane on the tv tonight. It looked like you could drive a mack truck through the side of it. Great job of getting it back on the ground in one pice John.

I'm glad I don't have your job. I'm sure we don't know half the story but I read where the plane started to dive when the hole blew out. Nice recovery. You did one fine job of getting that plane on the deck.

They take the aircraft down below 10K feet for the comfort of the passengers, as the breathable air at 35K feet just isn't there. Then, they obviously look for a suitable field to land on. John is already back to posting on AHN so he's not rattled too much, after all, there are flight simulations on this stuff all the time, so he's well trained for it.skipper wrote:jb747

jb747: Job well done, and my hat is off to you, sir.
It is obvious you are a very skilled aviator, and I hope that on my next drive trip down under, that you are the pilot of my aircraft!
