Problems with always having to "Login"!

Post by 204Shooter »

If you are having problems with always having to login even after you have said to "Log me on automatically each visit", try this:

Always use "www.204ruger.com/forum" to access the forum.

There are actually two ways to reach the forum; ie http://www.rugerhunting.com and http://www.204ruger.com. Cookies on your computer store the login information which inturn determines whether or not you are logged in. Cookies can only be stored in ONE of these paths (rugerhunting.com or 204ruger.com). I set ours to be 204ruger.com.

If you are using Firefox, my testing has indicated that you will still probably be able to use "204ruger.com" or "rugerhunting.com". But if your are using Internet Explorer, you will have to use "www.204ruger.com/forum" for your login state to be remembered.

Don't forget to update your bookmarks/favorites if they exist.

If you are still having problems, try deleting your cookies in your browser. You can also set 204ruger.com as a trusted site in "Tools | Internet Options | Security".

Thanks,

Brian

What was suggested above worked great for me this morning. You might give it a try. Yesterday I deleted the 204 forum from my favorites, then deleted the 204 forum cookie, then hit control o to get a new web address window, typed in "204ruger.com/forum" as shown above, after it came up I put that in my favorites and everything's been peachy every since.

But when entering the web address DO NOT put a period in front of 204 or you'll get the 404 error page.

You're welcome, but I forgot to add, when I go to a post, I still have to go down to the lower right and use the "go" button to successfully get back to the thread rather than use the browser button but that's no big deal.

Right JD and Glen. I did make a change to what is called the "cookie path". What that means is that if you use IE, you will need to use "www.204ruger.com/forum" to always stay logged in. It used to be "www.rugerhunting.com" so that may cause some confusion for people. Sorry for that.
