.A Taxidermist Christmas
T’was the night before Christmas in the old taxidermy shop,
The master hard at work so much to do he couldn’t stop.
Deer heads and pheasants and flying ducks too,
Mounted so life like they stared back at you.
Sewing a tight seem on a bobcat head,
He hardly noticed the fireplace embers almost dead.
A draft of cold air gave him a chill,
The old man shuddered that was taxidermist Bill.
He worked on through the night his eyes grew tired,
They closed on their own not staying open even if wired.
But suddenly a sound up on the roof,
Startled him awake sounding like a reindeer hoof.
He dashed to the window looked out the glass,
Saw a big sleigh and glimpse at a reindeer’s a$$.
It must be Christmas Eve he though to himself,
Grabbing milk from the icebox a glass from the shelf.
Leaving cookies for Santa he dove under bed,
Quietly waiting without a word being said.
Down the chimney he dropped in his big red suit,
Brushing off the dust as he wiped his boot.
The tree in the corner was lit all aglow,
While the wind howled out side bringing lots of snow.
Santa opened his bag bringing out his first gift,
Which thrill bills heart giving it a great lift.
A box of glass eyes and some wire in tow,
For mounting more specimens to display and show.
Santa looked around after eating his snack,
Admired the creative work as he lifted his sack.
He bonded up the chimney with a booming voice of joy,
That’s mighty fine work Bill you’re my kind of boy.
Bill ran outside in the snow his body a tingle,
Santa’s sleigh bells dying off with a jingle.
As bill looked around admiring Rudolf’s wit,
He notices another gift he was standing in reindeer sheet.
We close this story of long ago to wish you a warm Christmas,
Like a log all-aglow.
