Interesting new 26 gr. bullet from Barnes

I just talked to Barnes and they gave me more information about their new bullet for the .204 Ruger. For it's weight, it is supposed to be extremely long but he did not have the specifications. It will be designed like their other Varmint Gernade bullets, flat based with no polymer tip. However, because of the highly frangible and lightweigt core made out of copper-tin, the bullets are long for their weight and should have a decent BC. It will be interesting to see some of the velocities we get from a 26 gr bullet!

26 grain? I think a 32 gr is too light!

Hopefully they are built a little better than the grenades. Hopefully a few people can get these new bullets to group!!

Awesome news. Blistering speed with a good BC would be most welcome.
Do the grenades work well in other calibers? Never tried em.
Wondering if some barrels might not get them to the target before they go poof.

I have heard the Varmint Grenades in other calibers have been lacking...

My concern with these is exactly how long are they? A long bullet requires a faster spin, will these things stabilize in a 1:12 barrel? I do want to try some.

I've been anticipating a Varmint Grenade in twenty cal. as I am about 70 miles from BARNES! I did not expect a 26gr LONG for caliber(???) bullet. I hope it does well. I'll buy a box. (gotta support the local team, ya know)

They are practically in my backyard as well. I wrote them about a year ago about a 20 cal bullet and they informed me that they had no plans for one in the future. It looks like they have finally seen the light.

Ya I knew some of yall are closer than me. But that keeps you closer to The Big S*ity too!!! I havent tried the Triple Shock yet and the XLC isn't the most accurate out of my .270 but the terminal performance on deer is impressive!

If the difference is 325 fps between the 32 grain and the 40 grainer...............maybe this little sucker will hit 4500???

They are listed as "coming in 2008", so I don't think they are here just yet.

Something to keep in mind, most factory barrels are 1X12 twist it looks like this is going to be a long bullet so I'd bet they don't shoot well in most factory barrels. It's not the weight that determines the twist its the lenght of the bullet. The Berger 50's are are really long bullet that shoot really well in my 1X10 but would shot for spit in my 1x12.
