New Predator rifle
It's ready for break-in Wednesday evening . I kinda like the semi-heavy barrel. I hope it's a shooter like Gmoney's.Thanks bud I'll probably start with Benchmark and 35 Bergers. go figure . I put a Nikon 3-9 Omega with BDC reticle on it. Nice combo. I just might try the rifle out on my backyard woodchuck . Looks like it will be a little easier Hunting this fall.

What rifle? I can not find it in the picture.
Re: New Predator rifle
Mmm,mmm, mmm. Now that is a sharp looking rig. I bet it lives up to the Savage reputation for being a shooter too. Sweet!

What do you think of the features of the gun? I think it balances great....
You know, I bought 400 40 Vmax's right before I shot mine. If I would have known the Bergers and Benchmark would do what they do I would not have bought the Vmax's....
Let us know how it works for you....

Re: New Predator rifle
SWEET looking rig. What does that rifle weigh with scope and all. I'm looking at gettin another 204 for coyote calling. Wife thinks I'm nuts. I have 2 already but they are a little heavy for carrying around. Let me know.
Thanks
Kurt

Re: New Predator rifle
Gmoney
I took it apart last night and had my way with her. I'm VERY happy everything right down to my stubby lightweight scope. It appears somebody already broke it in. The barrel is FILTHY with carbon .... Yea, Them Bergers and Benchmark sure are a perfect match. That combo outshot ALL my loads to date. With 2 different rifles . Who knows, maybe this will be the third. When load developing for my LRPV. I had to shoot all loads at 100,200,and 300 just to find the best. They were ALL that good . After about 150 rounds I chose 26.6 of Benchmark. I'll be shooting her through Chrony this weekend. They say the high temp for Saturday is 70 degrees here. . I'll be at the range ALL day .

Kurt
Sorry, I don't have a scale. Us skinny guys don't need one . It feels about 4-5lbs lighter than my Savage VLP.

Re: New Predator rifle
Joe,
If you don't mind could you let me know what kind of "drop" and velocities you're getting with those Bergers from 200 and 300? I ask only as the last time I shot at 200 I had some mixed results.
Thanks Joe and that 35 Berger and Benchmark combo is great even though it's not quite on the top of the heap for speeds...

Re: New Predator rifle
This range report almost didn't happen. I loaded up 50 rounds last night with FULL LENGTH SIZED WW brass from another rifle. Got all set up ,tossed a round in,close the bolt ,what the _ _ _ _ . It would not close on any of my reloads. . I then packed up,Drove to the store, Picked up some new WW brass, loaded up 30 rounds and headed back. I then was able to shoot 15 rounds. The top target is 4 shots at 100 yards with 26.2 grains of Benchmark. The fifth was 6 inches high and to the left. I was still getting it on the paper. The bottom targets were shot at 200 with 26.4 and 26.6 grains of Benchmark. I wish I had more of that 26.2 load. Average velocity for 26.2 was 3550. 26.4 average was 3600. It was too dark to get a reading on the 26.6 load. I'm sure we'll get her dialed in at 200.

Re: New Predator rifle
Nice Joe....
3600 with 26.4?
Any idea why it's roughly 200 fps slow than published?
Sorry to hear the problmes yesterday, least you got to shoot a little...

Re: New Predator rifle
I think the 22" barrel is to blame for the velocity loss. The primers were also flatened.

Re: New Predator rifle
You know Joe....Been thinking the last few days...
You may have pushed me over the edge on getting a chrony...
Been putting it off for some time now and now I'm curious about my speed even if it does under .2"....
