Curious to hear from members on there opinions of the 20vt for woodhucks. I know it's a good p.d. round but the woodchuck is bigger. Maybe the 22-250 would be a better choice. Any chuck hunters out there?

I'm no expert, but I know the Western Rock Chuck is a direct relative of the Eastern Woodchuck. I've shot woodchucks in TN and VA with a .243 and would say the critters are about the same size overall. I also know that the 20VT with 32gr SBK's or Nosler BT's is very, very effictive on our rock chucks here.

Chucks really hate mine:
Three weeks ago, more of them met up with my 20VT:
So I'd say "yes", it would work quite well for woodchucks....just ask Todd Kindler, the originator of the 20VT. He developed the caliber as a result of his "chuck quest" with small calibers. Todd runs The Woodchuck Den in Baltic, OH, and is the former editor of Small Caliber News. If you ever have any questions of the 20VT, Todd is "the father" of the caliber. I know Todd well, and can also say he's a great guy to deal with. Here's the Vartarg story:

Anyway, have no fear, a 20Vartarg will work just dandy on Chuckie.
(Sorry for the re-run guys....)

Pictures are worth a thousand words and that makes Rick a loud mouth!
I don't think anyone would have any second thoughts about the 20VT after looking at Rick's recent woodchuck threads. Good stuff.

I used the 204 at 3800 fps loading last year for Rock Chucks. I never had a one of them make it back to their den. Most of my shots were 200-300 yards. I shot over 50 of them in two trips. Using the 32 Vmax. It does not launch them like a 243, but they just collapse on the spot. I think Rick is getting equal velocity with his 20.
