Went hunting Sunday.

Post by Ryan S Albright »

I couldn't stand it I had to go! I took the Remington LVSF in 204 out and drove around I decided to go behind some Orange groves that I had tresspass permits for. I wasn't feeling so good so I took a short nap and thought about going home I had taken four motrin and was waiting for them to work. I decide to get out and make a stand as I left the car I realized I had forgoten my shooting sticks. Oh well I found a spot and set a tape player out and hung the Prey master up in a small tree. I had been calling for only about three minutes when I looked down and there was a coyote on top of my call I was laying on the ground the coyote was moving fast across the ground but was close so I took the shot. The thing took off fast I thought I had hit it. The next shot I missed I was shooting off my elbows on the ground and was a little shocked at how little area my scope gave me not a good thing when trying to keep a running coyote in view. It got away. I went home and broke out the Ruger standard with the Simmons White tail. This is a 6x20x50AO. with a good field of fiew the other scope is a nice Simmons 6x21x44 with a side focus that I had just bought. I like the scope for its light weight and power but the field of view is a little tight. I am thinking I should go back with the 3x9 WA. Any way I went back to an area close by and set up another stand. I had placed the tape player in the bushes acoss a small swell and set the Prey master on top of a bush. Setting across the way on a hill side I saw a coyote on top of the hill poke his head out I had only been set up for about 90 seconds. He disapeared. I called and waited and called. Had he seen me. I tried adding crow calls and barks but nothing so I broke out a mouth call and went for it and here he came it had been 30 minutes I saw him coming at first I thought he was a fox he would disapear then reapear finely he showed up in front of the tape I barked this time to stop him and took the shot.ImageImageImage

Nice! Usually if I don't have something in within 20 minutes, I start throwing different stuff out. WTG!
