Electronic varment call placement?

Post by Remmington31 »

To me this sound like a funny question but mabey I have had it wrong all along. I was watching a you tube video and the hunter swore up and down that you place you electronic call behind you. I have always placed it in front of me in the field that I was hunting. He says that you place it in the woods behind you. Have I been doing this wrong? Hope someone can help. (Any personal preferences on brand or type of call)

You have it right! That guy is NUTS. He must have eyes in the back of his head. I use a foxpro FX5. They have a new one called the Fury. Its cost less than the FX5 and as more bells and whistles. So if you are looking for a good call that works will thats the one I would get. :D

I like to place the call upwind of me to take advantage of their desire to circle downwind of the sound. In some instance the e-caller will be behind me. Your terrain on that setup will dictate that. JMO

The only time my Foxpro is behind me is when I'm on a steep hill, and I place it above and behind me to get better sound distribution over a wider area.

98% of the time, it's in front of me where it belongs.

Wind direction and terrain are going to dictate where you place your e-caller, and in most instances, this will probably be somewhere in front of you.
