I noticed that Midway no longer lists its versions of the BR Pivot for sale. Have they dropped the bench, or are they just out of stock for a while?

Mike: I saw the same thing. Also checked the Battenfield website, and they only have the el cheapo version called The Stable Table listed. They still have the main page from my old website up though, link:

I'd think if they Deep Sixed the BRP because of tight financial times, they would not have the old VM site still up saying it's manufactured by Battenfield/Caldwell.

They're gone for the holidays, but I'll ask the honcho there and see what's up later this month.

I'm still determined to find one of yours floating around. Someone's probably got a lightly used one collecting dust in a garage or attick that needs a new home.

I'd be shocked if Midway/Caldwell completely dumped the Pivot. It wasn't really even on the market that long under their label, was it? Talk about a HUGE waste of resources if that's the case!

Midway's web site says the deluxe version is "Discontinued". A victum of the bad economy? Gary

Too bad, as over 2,000 of my old customers told me "it's the best one out there", and at that time was very much worth paying a premium price for a premium portable rotating field bench rest. It must indeed be the hard-hit economy. Guys without a job are not likely to pay over $500 for a bench rest when putting food on the table is an issue.

Just think Captqc, you now have a collectable item!

I guess Midway is doing well with using my patent on their Stable Table, the el cheapo version of my old BR Pivot. I see it in the New Products section of the current Varmint Hunter Magazine, along with a note that Coyote Jakes has sold out to Selmar Corp. too.

Now I'm glad I kept two of my BR Pivot Lites, along with a good supply of spare parts.

Ah yes, right you are Don. The 2nd unit is referred to as my "guest bench", and is usually used by my nephew or a deprived friend for our squirrel forays.

The flip side of that is when wifey calls it "one of my half a$$ed ideas" that actually worked! But even though I can sit on only one at a time, I'm pleased to say that both cheeks fit well on that padded seat, and are still happy at the end of a long day giving Skippy a hard time.

Mike: Update......Battenfield told me yesterday that they are changing the barrel assembly from the precision cast aluminum alloy I used, to a welded steel unit. Seems they were having trouble with their vendor not being able to hold tolerences with the alloy assembly. They expect to have the new barrels in stock at the end of April, and be shipping complete BR Pivots soon thereafter.

This will make the bench a bit heavier, but just as stable as the units we made here in Oregon. The upside is that they will acutually be available once again.

Rick: As always, I appreciate your updates! Sounds like the benches will be available for prairie dog season this year. Good news for me, since no one seems to be selling a BR Pivot in any of the forums these days.
