First Coyote of the Season

Sometimes it's Dec. by the time I get serious about calling dogs, but I've had the itch lately so I hoofed it down to one of my favorite spots. Didn't see as much sign as usual, and I had one come in that wouldn't ever come inside 1000 yards or so, so I suspect that there has been some guys callin recently in the area...or maybe all the hiking I was doing made them smell me from a mile away. :chin:
I did get this young female though. I hit her a little far back from about 340 yards and she piled up at about 75 yards. I finished her off when I walked up to her, but I was pleased with the killing effort of the .204 as she was not in any shape to go anywhere even with a less than desirable shot. I was shooting federal factory with 39 grain blitzkings.

bullfrog--Congratulations on a good start to the season. That sure is some interesting looking country in that photo. It looks like you could have coyotes hiding behind every piece of sage brush and never know it. Maybe you need to hunt from a ladder???

Thanks for the photo and story.
