Skippy bites the Big One (Viewer discresion advised)
As we're all waiting for the spring season to start, here's some random shots of gear, and Skippy biting the big one. If you're like me, looking at varmint shooting pictures in the off season, although not as good as the real meal deal, is sort of fun just to relive the experience.
Here's some shots of bench rest varmint shooting here in Oregon (the sandbag shown is for rest-shooting my scoped 22 WMR revolver):
The setup:

Skippy's view:
Doing the deed (you can barely see the bullet impact dust):
Score one for us, Skippy's bites it!: (This rat was relatively close, about 175 yards out)
Rifle pictured is my .223 Ackley Improved Holland/Rem M700, w/Pac-Nor Super Match bbl, McMillian Marksman Stock, Jewell Trigger, Leu 6.5-20X Mil-Dot scope, and my Internal Perminter Defense Weapon, my Smith M648 in 22 Mag. Enjoy.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's been an evolution of the passion that started about '68 or thereabouts, and has just evolved ever since.
From humble beginnings with an old Mossberg .22LR, sending Skippy to the big alfalfa patch in the sky, to what you see above.
There's just something about a nice sunny day, good friends about, an accurate centerfire rifle on the bench with your own bug hole shooting handloads, and a target rich environment. Does life get any better? Me thinks not!
Now if the weather would just warm up a bit.........

Sidewinderwa: Are they up? Well, yes.....on the golf courses that is, here in town. I talked to my rancher buddies over east, and it is very spotty right now. No real population out on the pivots yet. We've seen isolated individuals here and there, some rock chucks out sunning themselves, basking in a short burst of sunshine, but still cool and rain about, so they're not really shootable just yet.
Let me know when you're ready to come this way, and I'll try to be available for some 'show 'n tell'.
savage12fv: Thanks....sometimes I wonder if everyone enjoys checking out fun in the field, but if you guys like the pic posts, I'll keep 'em coming. Thanks for your post.
