I start shooting coyotes in late October although the fur is not prime then, particularly if we have had a warm autumn. The guard hair is usually not fully grown out and that doesn't happen until late November or early December. Coyotes can be taken until the end of February but by then breeding season is well under way and some coyotes will be getting rubbed and sun-bleached. Still, I have taken some nice fur right through the month of February and early March. It doesn't matter how good the fur is if you blow a big hole in it. I am hoping the .204 will solve some of that but it may have to wait for next season. There have been very few canids around here for the past two months.
