Re: Whos coyote hunting?
I've been wanting to get out but it seems like something always comes up to keep me from going. I'm thinking maybe Monday, every other day next week is supposed to be raining.

Re: Whos coyote hunting?
I have used many rifles to hunt them. I intend to use my current CZ 527 in .204 Ruger. I have killed many with a .22-250, some others with .223, and quite a few with a .243. Oh, and one unlucky male when I was deer hunting with a .270

Re: Whos coyote hunting?
Over the years I have shot coyotes with everything from Bow & Arrow, 22lr, up to 375 H&H cartridges. Now days most with 17hmr, 17FB, 20SCC, 22-250, 20-223AI and a couple 6mm's. Just depends on which rifle or two I take on a given day, for calling them in or roaming and spot shooting.
Couple of examples, one with 20-223AI and one with 17HMR..

My partner and I went out this past Monday. We made several stands but didn't call in a thing. We saw one badger that got away before we could get on it and several mule deer does. We'll try again in a few days.

As you know, failure is part of the game calling coyotes. I went out today and didnt see anything.

Even on days when nothing responds to the call, or even sighting one, it is never a failure.. Just that fact that I can get out and about makes my day. Always see something, raptors, rabbits, deer and they are all worth the trip out.

Yes, I agree, It's good just to get out. I always enjoy a day out in the field even if it's just roaming around. Speaking of raptors, we did have a couple of Kestrals respond and a few Ravens flew over.

How about a few more photo's from others of the coyote kills. Here is one with my 22-250, which many use for such shooting fun.

Sorry you didn't like the word failure. I didn't mean total failure, I agree it's great to get out. Okay I am going to focus on success-
