Shoot some more Richardson Ground Squirrels that is!

Buddy of mine whom I went out with last summer at his and his dads ranch for Squirrels (gophers in these parts).
He'd been sending me pics of the ones he'd been shooting a couple weeks prior. So I rounded up another friend of both of ours and begged for another invite to help thin the pastures of any we would encounter. It just so happened that his dad needed a sprayer for the back of the Ranger to knock down alot of noctious weeds in the pastures. I did my best impression of a ups driver and picked up the sprayer and delivered it. It worked out great because its spring the young ones were out and stupid.

And darn it if I didn't bring the. 204 but still ended up only using the 17hmr. This year it was mostly out of my hands because of sparatic cattle and Gov fencing crew we wanted to make sure of safe shots.

Alfalfa is too high to see the squeeks in my area pivots, so did the next best thing and went after some Rock chuck. This one I could climb up and over the rim rocks to obtain for a photo. Getting too old to climb around in those rocks, but this one being about in a fairly easy rock formation I made it so I could get a photo. 17 fireball did the trick around 160 yrds. Bill K :)

Good for you Bill. We had it much easier. Just like last year we had the Ranger be our chariot. This time with a door gunner and a roof gunner.

That is a nice way to travel and work out of. Me, I just have my Jeep/Cherokee, but it gets me in and out of those canyons and sage flats, mostly on pretty decent dirt roads and trails. Anyway we can, we do it, right ? :D Bill K

I was there and can verify Bill's chuck kill. He gets around rocks pretty good and he let me take a shot off the hood of his Cherokee-I missed though! Thanks Bill for a great day. Randy.

My pleasure. Enjoyed the day with you, meeting your father in law, and his rock chuck also.. Since it was his first. and just getting out and about, with our small calibers. And everyone getting a few critters, and seeing others. :D Bill K :)

Here are two of them, from what we gave lessons on flying too. Randy is in the cap, me with the sun bonnet, following doctor's orders to lower my skin cancer rate.

Randy's 20 VT and my CZ 17 Fireball. ( see the rimrocks across the meadow, well most shots are taken like that from around 230 to 350 yrds. )

I would also post a photo of Randy's father in law and his first chuck, but don't know if he would want me to do so. We will see.

Well fellow shooters, Randy's ( brother in law, not father in law) said he did not mind my posting his photo and chuck.. so here he is. ( He first one and now he want a nice varmint rifle to hunt more of them.. Is it not addicting ? :D
