Got a long awaited chance to head out to a friend's childhood farm and blast a few out in the pastures surrounding the yard. Made the trip with .22, .17 hmr and .204 in tow. Turns out all I used was the .17. Wanted to turn a few into mist with the 204 but the pastures were overgrown from abundant amounts of rain this summer so shots were averaging literally 15-20 steps in front of the Ranger. Man what fun. Gonna try and post a couple videos but they might have to made into a GIF. We did get lucky and found a few running around under a creep feeder. Just had to wait for a safe presentation.

The 17HMR is great for those under 200 yard shots. Thanks for the neat little vids....appears you had some real fun. Not so much for the rats though.

Yes the 17 HMR is a fine little cartridge for short range work. Enjoyed your video's also.. Thanks for sharing those, looking forward to others now. Bill K

Yeah we had a Blast (pun intended) after all those close shots with the explosive nature it was all giggles. Cant even lie about that. Like a couple of little boys after seeing their first boob.

\ Took a shot morning run into a pivot area for some squeeks, 0600-0930 hrs. sunrise and a cup of coffee, then some started showing from around 60 to 160 yrds. 15.5 NTX in the 17 Hornet did a number. Tears them up, almost as bad as SW's 19 cal. Two jacks roamed out of the sage into the cut straw edge and they went down also. I could not find a exit on them, hammered them on the spot and seems like the NTX enters but blows and no exit. Peaceful morning. Bill K ( some floral also )

Sounds like my kinda morning Bill. So how do you like those NTX's? Haven't really bothered looking into them. I know you poor souls trapped in Kalifornistan dont have a choice. I've read some reviews i.e. Eric M from Varminter Forum but I know a v-max will provide plenty of pop most of the time.

So far they are working just fine, in fact it seems like the NTX and the Nosler lead free bullets are more accurate than the lead I was shooting, so this change to lead free has not bothered or hindered me at all. Bill K
