Sage rat "Tac-trailer" + 20 Vartarg

Post by Bodei »

A winning combo is my set up for taking squeeks this past weekend. Love my Cooper M21 in 20 Vartarg, it lives up to the hype. I do like the 17 Hornet as a between caliber surpassing the 17 HMR. I had some reasonably far shots with it, but for maximum carnage the 20 VT was the best medicine. Also very happy with the Varmint reticle in the Zeiss Conquest. Plenty of red mist!

The bullet creating red mist is the venerable Hornady Z-max 32 grain over 18.5 grains of H4198 @ 3750 fps. Gotta love the VarTarg.
Captqc - I suggest you beg, borrow or steal a Vartarg ASAP! I hear there's a guy in Oregon that is constantly singing its praises, maybe steal his?

Bodei: Yeah, I gotta keep an eye on Captqc....he's a sneaky one alright, and I have to keep my eye on my Cooper 20VT when he's about. But wow, looking at your pics, it appears great minds DO think alike!

A Cooper 20VT atop a BR Pivot, atop a trailer elevated enough to give great target acquisition.......pure joy in the rat patch! Here's a smiliar setup of ours recently........same great idea, different guys in different states, same varmint. ;)

Image

My little Ruger MK-I with Leupold red-dot and my Kimber 22LR conversion has accounted for a truckload of squirrels too......

Image

This guy thought he was safe "from a pistol" peeking over his mound at 52 yards......wrong!

Image

Thanks for sharing your pics, and glad you're out after Skippy and his pals.....we'll be right behind you, just five mountains north.....

Unfortunately the trailer and bullets are ileagle down here in the zone . But one could argue after a vaporizing like that not much left for the condors. I have a cooper m38 Phoenix in jail for 3 more days .a 6 x 24 viper, talley one piece rings and 300 hsm 32 vmax bullets patiently waiting.

Now there's some of the typical illogical/stupid laws that made me leave the People's Republik 40 years ago to never look back. In Oregon, we're still allowed to have fun. Congrats on your new rifle, I just hope they'll let you keep it there in Kommiefornia.

Captqc: "Scooter" as she's called, will be tucked in next to me in my sleeping bag.......away from your Cooper-grabbin' mitts! When you get yours, you can just blame it on me.

Here's my contribution to the "Skippy The Flying Squirrel" photo collection:

Don't worry all of California will be lead-free soon enough thanks to the enviro-nazis. The trailer is legal, eg.- Not a motor-driven vehicle (per section 251 of T/14 CCR).

Unhitch it if you want to, but a trailer is not a motorized vehicle and as long as it is not actively being pulled by a motorized vehicle, then the law doesn't apply. Google the law I referenced earlier and read it for yourself.
