We actually tried weighing the 'cats but it was obvious that our fishing scale wasn't reading correctly. These were all fairly young cats. They probably all weighed in the teens. A good mature bobcat in this country will weigh around 24#. A friend killed a 40# cat last winter but he was pretty exceptional.
To answer your second question, we don't howl when targeting 'cats but we have called 'cats after howling on coyote stands. Big, mature 'cats aren't intimidated by coyotes! A trapper once told me that the biggest 'cats they trapped were out on the flats. The young ones and moms with kittens use the rocks to stay away from other predators. I don't think those big, old cats give a rip about a stinkin' coyote. YMMV But, I won't use howls when 'cats are a decent posssibility. Better safe than sorry, they say.

Sure God's a hunter, he clothed Adam and Eve with skins and told Peter to "kill and eat", didn't He?

Awwww thanks Dad I don't get on here much anymore, no real good reason though. I did pick up my .17 Fireball that you saw in the pictures.tt35 wrote:I'm pretty proud of him. He's quite a shot!

Now that's what I call a "mixed bag" . Way to go with the pile of fur.

Great day is an understatement! They are nicely colored as well. I would be tickled to get one nice cat let alone 3. Way to go.
