Re: Another Epic Rat Shoot
I was busy blasting skippy and his pals in the field. Here’s what happened to the chuck later on.

Re: Another Epic Rat Shoot
Here's Captqc...."Rock chucks? Don't need no stinkin' rifle for rock chucks!"
Most of the areas we shoot Skippy and his pals on is irrigated ranch property, usually bordered by lava rock cliffs and outcroppings. Chucks live in the rocks and sun themselves out on the warm rocks during sunny periods. When we're shooting squirrels, it pays to glass the distant rocks for the chucks silly enough for sun bathing while we're in the field. It makes for some great shooting.
An idyllic setting in the alfalfa with chuck-rich rocks bordering the field.....
If the rat shooting gets slow, spin the bench around and glass the lava rocks....
And if all goes well (for us, NOT the chuck!), this is usually the scene:
All this was from past fun of course, now it's 2022 and almost springtime. The anticipation builds, the weather is getting warmer (well, at least it's not -2*F today like last week! ) and we're all looking forward to another adventure fielding our 204's and having some grand fun with good friends and of course our old pal, Skippy the Flying Squirrel.

Re: Another Epic Rat Shoot
They do pop up at handgun range, now and then.
