Good calling and bad weather

Post by ACLakey »

Well, I made it out again for a day of calling. The weather was cold, and had spats of snow but it was doable. On the way out of town we spotted seven in fields we did not have permission to hunt. Our first area was dry but had a pile of deer wintering on the property. I was able to get some good photos of a couple different bucks.

We went to another property and spooked five out of a field on the way in...oops. We did a little calling and I was able to get one small and dumb one to come back.

223AI 65gr Gameking 250 yards and it dropped before I heard the wwhhooopp. Small quarter sized exit as I have experienced with the 55gr version over the years. We had a great day even though we went 1 for 12. :)

THAT... is one heck of a nice buck! I grew up in the Willamette Valley and I can only remember ever seeing one buck close to that size. Very nice!!

Nice job on the 'yote!

Sounds like the population is healthy anyway! Congrats on the coyote. They all grow up. Might as well get 'em while they're young. :)
