Red light quest

Post by sniper model 12 »

I'm in need of a great! red light that I can use on the stand by myself with either a rifle or shotgun. I've looked at several different configs and trying to carry a 12v battery around the field all day and into the night would pose a problem (it seems to me).

Need some help. I've got a fella calling me daily with a HUGE coyote issue and I need some night shooting with the 870 turkey gun to get them under control. or some 204 shootin' in the lower light.

Help! :chin:

thank you

eric

Well, check out the Surefire line of weapons lights. Our SOCOM, USMC, Navy and Army/Rangers use them, and mounts are available for most weapons. I have four of them in various sizes/intensities, all are available with red filters. They are small and light weight, but very powerful as you'd imagine if the military uses them.

They're also on the spendy side, but again, you get what you pay for.

You can check this link too. It has a lot of good detailed info on the Surefire lights.

Glen: Thanks for the web link! That was awesome! Good posting!

I've looked at the Surefire line. . some. The current leader for the read lights that I've been considering is the Primos Nightblaster with the 6v rechargable battery in a carry bag. I have reservations due to the fact that I can't find one in a local store to look at. The battery may not last as long, but it should be lighter in weight than the 12volt.

Run time is an issue for two of my hunting sites. One in particular has received some heavy pressure during daylight hours but none on the night time clock. I'd like to set the light out on a deer carcass then move myself and rig to a locale 20-30 yds away and snipe. I've heard this can be effective with longer lasting light setups.

I appreciate all of your input! :chin: it opens the mind for serious thinking.
