If your starting with a small bolt face action it will cost alot to change it. The 6mmx204 uses less powder to do the samething. You lose the COOL factor. A small boltface 6 seams easier to get to shoot small groups (243's never made it as a benchrest cartridge).

I do understand the COOL factor...and am all for it.
How would a small boltface versus a large boltface change accuracy? If the action and bolt have been trued by a competent gunsmith, flat is straight and true.
I quess I should have said smaller capacity or whatever. If the .243 could be made to shoot very little groups consistantly we wouldn't have the 6mmPPC, 6mm BR, 6mm INTERNATIONAL, 6x47 LAPUA, 6x47mm and a long list of smaller capacity 6mm's That have dominated the benchrest compitition the last 2 dacades.
Wouldn't the 6mm/204 be pretty close to a 6mm TCU?
I also don't think brass is an issue with the 6*47. You really have lots of choice, and realistically, very few would be bad choices. I love my 6*47, but I suspect that a rifle built to shoot most of the small 6mms would be just as much fun.
I've just sold my 243; nice round but a bit more than needed as a 500 metre rabbit rifle. For my uses, a 6/250 or the new 6*47 Lapua (got one on order) are more appropriate than the 243, though I'll accept that a large part of that is the desire to be a bit different.
Diversity is a good thing. We shouldn't all have the same stuff....
