Wyoming elk hunt

Got a scanner for Christmas, and can now share a few photos from my Wyoming elk hunt from 2000. It was an awesome hunt, way in the backcountry for about ten days. Many thanks to my hunting partner who had the expertise, the gear, and the horses to pull off this hunt. I just hunted hard and shot straight and did my fair share of camp chores. It was a terrific hunt.
For the techno-guys - I used a 7mm Rem mag w/handloaded 175 grain Nosler Partitions. One shot was plenty, from 180 yards. Complete penetration. The rifle was a low-budget synthetic stocked Remington 700 ADL, with a 3-9x Leupold. It was of course on 3x when I made the shot. Used sitting position, with the Turner sling rigged to stabilize the rifle. Am once again glad The Corps taught me how to use a sling to improve field accuracy. Hunting the rut is incredible...
If you want to hunt elk in Wyoming, and you're not a resident, it's time to get your applications in for 2009!
