Big game dressing tool
Has anyone tried the Hunter Specialties "Butt Out" big game dressing tool?? If you did how did it work? Was it worth the money? Thanks in advance

Re: Big game dressing tool
I don't see a need. I learned how to dress a deer years ago, with a just a good sharp knife.
I now wear a pair of blue nitrile gloves but beyond that the method and tools are unchanged from what I learned from my Father and Grandfather.
It takes two or three minutes to cut around the anus, reach in with your fingers and break loose the connective tissues, tie off the intestine, and the urethra, and pull them through into the stomach cavity.
I would be hesitant to use the "butt out" for fear of tearing things up, and ending up with urine or feces in the body cavity.
I put a real effort into being sure I have a good solid shot on the heart and lungs. Much of that effort is expended to minimize the possibilty of a gut shot animal, because I don't want to deal with a contaminated body cavity.

It's just that after all these years I still sometimes have a problem getting the butt out clean

I use it. It works pretty good. It does save a little time.
