We've seen 3 of those within 50 miles here in the last couple years. Never seen any until then. Those are some nice pics. Thanks for sharing.

I've never seen one of these deer. I've been deer hunting for a long time. Are they just common to a particular area or is this some kind of cross breed that is catching on? They look like they could be a mix between a white tail and some exotic species. There are exotic ranches everywhere you look in Texas.

That's called PIEBALD, for whatever reasons they had in those days
. They aren't uncommon, but you don't see one every day, either. I think they are more common than true albinos, since it's like albinism, it's a deformed gene or something that causes it. I suspect that they don't live too long, since they are a lot easier for a predator to see. I hear about one or two being taken during each deer season in Missouri, those are the first pics I've ever seen of one, though.
Really interesting markings on that doe's face, aren't they?

Originally, I thought the last picture was from the pages of a French military operations guide. Upon closer inspection, you might be right though. The white flag threw me.

A buddy of mine got a piebald last year and had the hide tanned for a throw blanket. Looks nice on his couch.

Either that or from the pages of the operation manual for a WW II Italian tank... you know, the ones with one speed forward and six in reverse.
