Called this little fella in for a 40 yd shot with "stick n string". Came in on a run from ~300 yds away grunting hard all the way. Good ole "Swamp Donkey's"

That'll fill the freezer just as much as one with a monster brush pile on his head. And with an old school bow, it's that much for of a trophy. Congrats!

Congrats, Gube! You'll have some dandy winter meat.

Been a while since I had moose.....miss it. Can't let wifey see your post, she's sensitive to shooting "Bullwinkle".......girls ya know. I can blow PD's, squirrels and chucks to the molecular level in front of her no prob, but mention a moose........

Way to go, thanks for sharing. :D

Congratulations! I'm just a little envious - drawing a bull moose tag here in Washington State is a "once in a lifetime" event - and often takes 10 - 20 years, or more, to draw... I'll be astounded if I ever draw a moose tag!

Congrats. You did good.

I don't know what I would do if I couldn't chase after ole "Bullwinkle" every year  . We have very liberal archery seasons out here where a "general moose" tag can be utilized over a good portion of the whole province during the "rut" every year :D . The riflers generally have to wait about every three to five years to get a draw in a particular zone. My first moose was back in the late 70's with a 270 win. Since then the 15+ swamp donkeys I have taken have all been with stick and string. The adrenaline rush of a 1500+lb rubber nose coming in grunting and smashing trees looking for a fight is quite indescribeable. Average shots are 20 yds but had some as close as 4 feet.
Elk on the other hand are my "nemesis" :wall: . I have come so close so many times (twice this year). I've been chasing them as long as the moose but have only harvested ~6. Allready looking forward to next years "rut" .
