Alaska guide recommendations?

Post by inKYfromSD »

Does anyone have a recommendation for a guide in Alaska for a caibou hunt? My buddy and I are trying to plan a hunt and are having a hard time deciding on a guide.

Thanks,

I know a great guide for silver salmon fly fishing... but not for caribou. Doggone it.

Caribou could be a great hunt though...

Personally, I'd contact SCI (Safari Club Intl.) and ask them, as that's part of what they do.

Good luck, hope you have a great hunt. :D

For myself, I just give my brother a call. He lives in Kenai, AK less than a 1/2 mile from the mouth of the Kenai river. Good for salmon and halibut fishing. He is NOT a guide, but he lined up a caribou hunt with one of his buddies that we grew up with. Took home 2 meat bulls and 1 trophy bull. I caught the biggest fish of my life with him, out of his boat on the Cook Inlet. A 62lb halibut.

Scott, when in September were you there? We used Brad Saalsaa and RAM flew us in & out. Sheila works pretty hard to make sure everything is right.

I was there the 21st through the 30th. I went un-guided, but I know Brad and would reccommend him to guide you in Alaska (game),or Hawaii (fish). You are spot-on about Sheila! She is VERY good at what she does!
