first elk long shot

Post by sodwyer »

Well after five years of hunting dutch creek I filled my first general elk tag. 7:40 pm glassing the far gidges a lone bull slips out of the woods to graze. my cosin spots the bull across the the valley and I put up the range finder 568 yards. With dark aproching fast no time to stock I doped the wind NIL referenced my chart 560y = 10.2 MOA I dial my VXIII 6.5x20x50 and hold high sholder. The bull terns broadside (BOOM) the 190 berger VLD flies true and the bull piles up without another step. the cut block was steep and the bull proceded to roll about 50 ft to rest against a stump. nice 5x5 down
