Well I was there when my hunting partner filled his tag today. I got to see this very nice mountain mullie fall. He was taken with a 300 Win mag, at the distance of 235 yards from an off hand shooting position. My friends name is Craig and we have been hunting this particular area for three years now and this is the best the both of us have done in this area. This dear was a big bodied deer. We guesstimate his weight after field dressing him to be around 200 pounds. So with that the 300 Win mag was shooting factory loads of 180 gr bullets. Well I have to run and enjoy the pics. Not bad and gross scored in at 153 3/8 inches

Nice shooting....offhand at 235 yards is tough shooting with the wind thats always present.
Back straps for all... and thanks for posting the pictures and story.
John Moses Browning made the west safe for Winchesters
Nice buck! 235 yards offhand is quite a shot as well. Definitely beyond what I would feel comfortable with, but glad to see that your friend has the ability to pull it off.
My hunting partner says thanks and he wasn't realy ready to take an off-hand shot at that distance but it was a now or never type of deal. Thanks guys and good luck. Ride Up!!!
