Painted Another Stock Tonight

Post by ACLakey »

My buddy brought his Winchester over tonight for an overhaul. I think it turned out great and the stainless really sets it off.

You do nice work. :wtg: How did you do the checkering? Tape it up or repainted?

I would not recommend it. My buddy painted his Hogue stock and the paint is hot holding up very well on the rugerized material.

I tape the checkering off and use an exacto knife to trim the edges. I have painted the checkering first, taped it off and painted the remainder of the stock and it worked well. I finally quit painting the checkering and just masked it off.

How do you do the "spiderweb" on these stocks? Fantastic job, by the way.

I have been using Krylon webbing spray. You can find it at some craft stores or order it online at jo-anns. The paint come out of the can as you see it. You should practice on a paper plate or piece of cardbord because the spray comes out of the can a little strange.

Very nice job. Thanks for sharing. I could even do that I think. I have a plastic stock that is destined for coyoteville.
