looking for a 700 short action...
I am in the market for a rem 700 short action. I am interested in action alone or a 700 short action rifle if the price is feasible. I need the action for a upcoming build in .260 remington; on that note i'll also be looking for a worthy scope for the topside...cmon i know they are out there and i've got a good home for it!

For that M700 short action, try Brownells, they usually have them in stock, and I see that they also have it in the correct boltface available in the SA for your .260 project. Good luck with the build.

I want a quality scope, 30mm tube preferred power range of 16-18 on the high side. Mil dot or close variant reticle.

We carry the Clearidge and Hawke scope brands, both offer good quality optics with 30 mm tubes. PM me if you would be interested in a price quote.

Milkman i have 2 of the Hawke 6.5-20 scopes and they are clear and sharp. I would put them right up there with the luepolds .

That's way over-priced though for just the action.Rick in Oregon wrote:For that M700 short action, try Brownells, they usually have them in stock, and I see that they also have it in the correct boltface available in the SA for your .260 project. Good luck with the build.

Watch for sales at your local sporting goods stores. This last November I bought three R700 ADLs in 7mm-08 for $320 each. This was at Sportsman's Warehouse. Watch them, Dicks Sporting Goods and Basspro for sales. The nice thing about doing it this way is that the factory barrels can be sold for $75-$100 and the stock for another $30-$35.
I think I am done with Remington for a while though. I'm sick of their rough @ss "matte" finish. The actions and triggers they are producing these days are cr@p. My R700 in .204R that I bought a couple years ago was so rough that it was tearing up my brass when cycling rounds from the magazine. It was leaving deep cuts in the body. I had to go at it with a file to smooth it out. Okay, I'll step off my soapbox now.
