I thought I would try a Redfield on the 243. I was pretty excited to get it up and rolling. I went to Melvins and I could hit a dot on the paper at 25 yards. Then got poster out and was about a 1.5' high and a foot left. I adjusted till the turrets stopped and nothing. I take it home and swap out rings and remounted it, after putting turrets in the middle. Went there today and the same thing almost to a T.
I have it boxed up and ready to head back to Redfield. I know things cant always be perfect but if their cust svc is good, I will be happy. Things happen LOL.
Just anxious to see how the 70 nosler bt's group and the impact on a coyote.

They are made by Leupold and have the same guarantee. Should be good.

Before you send it back..... You might try spinning the turrets slowly in each direction, to almost the limits and then resetting them to Zero with a mirror....Sometimes when a scope is produced at the factory, the erectors lock in position and need to be 'broken loose' before they will track as they should...

Did that but without a mirror. Just counted the turns and turn them to the middle.OldTurtle wrote:Before you send it back..... Re: Bummed out....
Hmm I was looking at a redfield at Cabelas a couple weeks ago for a .308 I am working on. I was tempted but have been so inpressed with my cheap Nikon prostaff. I am curious to know what others have thought of redfield? I cant afford Leupolds for them all! To say the truth, Maybe I got lucky? However, if all Nikon Prostaffs are as good as the one I have on my Ar? I would never spend a dime more.! It holds zero and returns to exact poi after dialing out and back in. The clarity is very good and it doesnt fog up!

The funny thing about this is, I was going to order the 4th Prostaff, but they didn't have any in stock and thats why I ended up with a Redfield. I FINALLY got ti sent off this week but haven't heard anything yet.Valar wrote:Hmm I was looking at a redfield at Cabelas a couple weeks ago for a .308 I am working on. Re: Bummed out....
I got it back today. They did do some fixing on it and now I got it remounted on the 243.
Next, head to Melvins and see if things are resolved, which I bet they are.

Re: Bummed out....
Song Dog, how did the Redfield turn out? I have a 3x9 and two 4-12's and all have been great. We "boxed" the 4x12 on a .300 Win Mag and it came right back to zero. Hunted with one in the rain this morning so we'll see how waterproff / fogproof they are.
