The word around my local club is that Leupold has two,new, high end scopes in the works.Supposedly of special interest to benchresters and varminters.To be debuted at the Shot Show later this month. Does anyone out there have any knowledge of this?

mrmarmota: I know of them, but have been sworn to secrecy. You probably won't find too much info prior to the official factory press release coming up soon. Spendy yes, but some interesting stuff for sure........

Funny thing about premium scopes. It appears that Loopy sees a market there but it appears that every time they dip their toe in, the market says yah, yah, but what do you have for under $250.

I buy resolution. That's what allows one to see through mirage and see non-contrasting targets in low light. Reticles that have fine scales allow for application of ballistics software are extremely useful as are large tubes with lots of erecter movement. FFP reticles that allow for measuring at all powers rounds out the picture when teamed with strong scope structures.

Swaro and S&B are substantially there already, and that market is getting stronger all the time.

I really like Leupold, but they left me a number of years ago. Hopefully, this new scope will bring me back.

Critter: The new Leupold models are mainly aimed at the tactical/LE market with MK-4 variables.....nothing really to get varmint shooters too excited. I doubt you'll be ditching any USO units for any new offerings....but that's just me.

RIO- I have often wondered why Leupold does not make a high magnification variable power scopes such as 8-32,10-50 or 12-42. Any ideas on why they don't. Anyways that is/was my wish for a new Leupold in 2011.

Clover: Good question indeed. Nightforce seems to do quite well using those variable power ranges. Know what? I'll dig into it to see if a real answer can be found.......film at 11:00.
