I'd look at Bushnell or Nikon in that price range. Gary

For the price, you cannot beat the Pentax Gameseekers with the PP2 reticle.

But, know this, might as well buy once....buy the best glass you can. I really like the Leupold 6-18x40. Just a little more money than your $300 budget, but worth it.

I have two Sightrons that are my favorites.... one is a 3-12x Duplex and the other is a 4-16x mil dot...They have a great warranty and they are generally in your price range..

I have a Swift Premier,, I think it is lol,, on my 221FireBall & I really like it. It's a 4-12x40AO & I paid a little under $200 about 5 years ago for it. I had a clarity problem with it the following spring after buying it & they had me send it in & I was happy with the repair & turn around time as well as the repair bill. Which just happened to be $00.00.

During a recent visit to Cabelas, I took the opportunity to peruse their scope section. It was full of scopes available for a variety of prices. What was interesting was the number of decent looking optics in the $150 to $250 price range.

Interesting, you really had to look to find one over $500. These were mainly the medium to high end Leupolds with larger tubes and objective lenses.

I don't think you will have any problem finding what you want at any decent outfitter department store.

I have to put a plug in for this scope.....
I heard good things about this scope and for the money I had t try it. I bought a Nikon Prostaff 4-12-40 early in the year. Since then I bought 2 more. I am just really impressed of what it is and love teh cost.

Check out Leupold's Rifleman and VX-I lines - good glass (and Leupold quality) in your price range.

+1 for the VX-1. I bought a VX-1, 4-12x 40mm. It only cost me $279.00. I put it on 1 of my 10/22's
