Ringing in the New Year!

Post by RAMOS »

Okay, the subject title is a bit corny. Here is the deal, I have a Cooper Phoenix in .204R on order with Talley Bases specified. I hope to see it in time to ring in the new year. I have a new Viper Vortex 6.5-20x44 scope at home with the 30mm tube. I have been looking at the Leupold PRW rings. Any one have suggestions on 30mm rings for Weaver Style bases? Not looking for bulky, tactical things with a dozen screws, or $150.00 units either. Just a good set of rings that will allow the scope and rifle to work well together. Thank you.

In that case have a look at Leupold QRW rings. No massive amount of steel, fits perfectly on any Picatinny or Weaver rail. HTH

RAMOS: Might be missing something in your post, but I don't think those Talley bases will mate with Weaver-style rings, if that's what your plan is; you'll have to use only Talley fixed or their version of QD rings. You'd have to go to Weaver type bases from Warne; I got a set from Midway for my Cooper .204 and some vertically-split Leupold Rifleman (!) rings (small and lighter than those admittedly very nice PRWs) for that same Vortex I planned on mounting. As it was, I came across a (1") Nikon for a good price instead, so went with Talley Lightweight "1 piece" ringmounts and couldn't be happier (they also come in 30mm.) Those guys at SWFA's opticstalk.com forum coud give you some ideas/tips.
Also, my Cooper came exactly 2 months after ordered, so maybe you'll have your's before Chrismas!

Rowdy,
Thanks for the heads-up. I thought Talley and Weaver were interchangable. They told told me 4-6 months for delivery but, I will take it as soon as I can!
