Leupold Scope Mounts

Post by Ryan S Albright »

I was having some strang groups with my Remington 700 LVSF. As I was at the bench I decided to check the torque on the stock scews then I checked the side screw on the Leupold mount the one that works for windage. It was loose as I tightend it. it moved easy about a quarter turn then about a 1/8th of the screw head cracked and fell off. This explains the erratic groups but what is strange is Midway has these mounts for $20 dollars Brownells has them for $82 dollars. Is there different grades of Leopold mounts? This mount was on the Rifle when I bought it. I know Leupold has put out a warning about counterfiet scopes. What about mounts. I just ordered a complete mount from Midway because I am always in a hurry and couldn't find a replacement screw. I contacted Leupold about a replacement screw but didn't ask them about mount quality or different grades.
