Any one have any input on this system and is it worth the $1500 they are asking. I thought it was preaty neat that it will work with my Mark IV Leupold scopes.
Just looking for some input.

Ray: No experience personally, but in this months Precision Shooting Magazine, an aquaintence of mine, Fred Barker, has written a technical piece on the BORS system. Fred used it aboard a Leupold MK-4 scope and reports very favorably on the unit.

The unit is designed to be operated by a spotter and a shooter (sniper team). It yields rifle cant, incline/pitch, barometric pressure, ambient temperature and distance to target, more than 2,500 yards. It is not really a laser rangefinder, but intended to be used in congunction with one. For range, it empoys stadia wires/crosshairs, then reads confirmation distance to target via an operator facing screen. The unit must be first zero'd with the cartridge being used, up to the .50BMG.

Fred is highly educated and a very intellegent gentleman. I shot prairie dogs with him, and spent time afield with him in Montana. He's a dedicated varmint shooter, rifleman, and all around fine sort. If he favors the unit, it would be my thought that it is all as advertised and will do the job. The fact that Barrett is offering the unit speaks volumes also, as Ronnie Barrett is not one to offer less that stellar products with his name attached to them. Just ask any SOCOM Marine returning from the Iraq Theater, as the Barrett M82 as we all know is very much favored over there for "taking care of business".

Rick...........Thanks for the reply. I noticed in a Tactical Wepons magazine that the BORES system had ballistics for the 338 Lupa, the 416 Barrett, and 50BMG.
