Has anyone here had any experience with the Leupold VXII custom scope? I have ordered 1 from optics planet, and should be here next week. had them do a custom mil-dot for my 204. i gave them the info that was asked for setting the mil-dot. the info included 204 Ruger, with a 32 grain VMax bullet. B.C is listed at 0.210. the load i will be shooting is moving at between 3900fps and 4000fps. the altitude is right at 4400ft. and they even asked what temps i will be shooting in. usually between 45 degrees and 75 degrees farenheit, depending on between Feb and into late June. I am guessing that some directions for the use of the scope will include what range each of the dots will be dead-on, and at what distance. any info, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. i have been using mil-dot scopes for about 3 years, but only use the dots for holdover on some longer shots with my 22LR and my .223. This will be my 1st. year shooting the .204. most of my targets will be the Belding squirrels, western coast prairie poodles, at any range from 50 yds out to around, hopefully 500 + yards.

My bro just got a VX-lll custom for his built 7mm-STW and he told them the info ect that they needed to make it. The way his works is to zero the rifle at 200yds. When shooting at ranges over 200yds turn it to 25x. Each line/dot below the center is 100yds farther than the above. Lines/dots go to 600yds. We were able to hit 4"x4" targets no problem at 200-600yds every shot by using the assigned marks. It also has 5 and 10mph windage dots beside each yardage line/dot. Awesome scope but you have to judge if it is worth the price.....

i have 4 leupolds on 4 different rifles, and have never had a problem with any of them. a couple have held up to some very brutal treatment, not by choice, but stuff happens. to me, all of them have been money well spent, and a very good investment.

i have done a little shooting since mounting the scope. sight in at 100yds. holding on 3rd dot and shooting accurately out to 522 yds. checked with laser range finder. shooting 204 ruger w/ 32 gr vmax, velocity around 3900 fps. the weather has been really poor around here for the last couple mos. so shooting opportunities are far and few between. but, i will be ready to go out in february or march and shoot, hopefully all of my reloads, so i can start loading some more :D
