Looking to upgrade my range finder. I currently have an old 1996 bushnell 400.
I did try a new bushnell rangefinder / bino (quest) but found it rather heavy.
I have got it down to a possibilty of three.
The Leica 1200 CRF (new model) or LRF (old model).
Or the new busnell elite 1500 with arc.
If anybody has any thoughts or experiences with them, please let me know.

Gube: In my opinion, your choices are correct in the order you listed them. The new CRF is excellent, I've used my buddies, and was quite impressed. I have an LRF-1200 and recommend it highly. It will range PD mounds on flat land past 500 yards, and mule deer bodies at over 700 yards. I've only looked through the Bushy one time, and can say without hesitation that the Leica optics have it beat many times over.

The choice is yours; the CRF is the creme of the crop, and the LRF-1200 is only a fraction below it on the scale of desirability/performance. Again its the old adage: You get what you pay for......

No doubt in my mind either. If you want to simply know the range, Leica 1200 either style is the way to go. My son-in-law likes the performance of his quest bino's and he doesn't need 2 pieces of equipment. If I wanted balistic info and a whole menu of stuff I would choose the 1500 Elite. These opinions are based on lots of experience in the field and feed back from customers at the gun shop I work in. You've done your homework well just decide now what you need in the field.

This year my friend got the Elite 1500-he thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread.

AZ Hunter: Did your buddy compare it alongside the Leica's prior to purchasing? The optics are not even in the same catagory, at least the one I looked through. But if your buddy is happy.......good for him.

I bought the Bushnell 1500 Elite... without the ARC feature. I don't think the prairie dog mounds are so high that I need to correct for elevation.

I've got the Leica 800yd. and it's worked great for me. We don't really have any open land around here as it's 99% woods. But like rick said you get what you pay for.

No he did not compare them side by side. He had decided he needed the ARC feature so thats why he went with it.

Well, I decided to go with the Leica crf 1200. Should arrive in the mail on Monday. Ordered it from sirmailorder.com
I'm heading out for a bowhunting trip for elk on Tuesday. Hopefully it arrives before I leave.
Thanks for the opinions. I think I will be very happy with the CRF.
