rings for vortex?

Post by kyyotestalker »

i have a vortex viper 6.5-20x44mm scope on my remington 700 sps-v the rings i have are way to high and i can't get 30mm rings localy and have to order them online, does anyone know what hight rings ( in inches or mm) do i need to order to get the scope as low as possible and still clear the barrel?
Where did that hit? I dont know aim alittle higher!

Put your scope and rings on and measure the clearance and ring height to determine minimum required ring height (top of base to bottom of scope, minus gap between scope objective and barrel = zero clearance). Most ring manufacturers web sites give ring height dimensions. Hope this description makes sense/helps.

tell me if this is right! space from top of base to bottom of scope tube is .50", space between barrel and bottom of scope objective is .40", so .50"-.40"=.1" so a ring hight of .1" will clear the barrel!

A ring height of 0.1" will put your scope ON the barrel. Try 0.1" + desired gap between scope and barrel. Maybe 0.2-0.3". This rifle does not have a varmint barrel, I take it?

If your measurements are accurate, I would think that should be a winner.

I have an SPS V with Weaver brand low rings (.300" high ) and bases. My 30mm Super Sniper scope, 42mm objective clears with about .200 to spare. Your .250 Warnes and approx. .040 more bell, +.090, should theoretically still leave you with approx. .110" left.
