I have a savage model 12 BVSS in 22-250 and I have decided to make it a paper punching gun. I doubt that I ever hunt anything with it. the local range only goes out to 100 yards so that will be the max this gun will shoot for now. Here are the two scopes I have in my basement to choose from:
1. Old tasco 6x24x44
2. Leupold 4.5x14x50
Now I know the leupold is made a lot better however it does not have the magnification that the tasco has. so the main question is if 14 power is enough for punching paper at 100 yards or if the tasco would be better.
what scope?

Re: what scope?
I used one of those old Japanese Tasco scopes for my load testing for many years. The 24 power is great for 100 yard target punching and mine hade a small target dot reticle that was great for paper. I'm pretty much of a Leupold fanatic these days, but this choice is obvious to me, use the Tasco.

Re: what scope?
Which has the finest reticle or the reticle you most prefer? Which one can you depend on the most if you were to shoot longer distances in the future & were going to use the windage/elevation knobs? Which one do you feel the most comfortable looking thru?

My own experience is that Tasco optics make good paper weights, tire chocks, and tent pegs.

Re: what scope?
The Tasco will suffice for paper punching. As someone else mentioned, they make good paper weights.
I have a like new 6.5 X 24 44mm Tasco w/Mil dot reticle for sale if you're intrerested.

I think your giveing them to much credit. I tried it today and there is such a huge differance! the tasco is pretty bad past 16x and about 20x its horrible.Sagebrush Burns wrote:My own experience is that Tasco optics make good paper weights, tire chocks, and tent pegs.
