I'm thinking about getting a rangefinder. It's the Leica LRF 1200 or the CRF 1200 , but I will have to get it from mail order so can't get them in hand. Would like some input on the good points and bad of the two? thanks
I really like my 1200 lrf. I got a great deal on it from http://www.cameralandny.com. The crf would be easier to use but I had to draw the line on cost somewhere.
Kim204, I have the LRF1200 and love it!!! The CRF is smaller but will cost you more money. (I picked up my LRF for $300 used) You can't go wrong with either choice. Gary
Kim - I've been using LRF's now since they first came out, either owned or tried every major brand out there at industry shoots, including the Leica BRF and Geovid. I currenty own and use their LRF-1200, and highly recommend it.
The Leica optics are better than any other brand, simple to use, extremely accurate, and the LRF will easily range a prairie dog mound past 600 yards, or a mule deer body to 700, and a juniper tree to 1260 yards (a doe was standing under it). I've ranged back to my truck well past 1,000 yards. You won't be able to do that with the other brands.
Two thumbs up for either the CRF-1200 or for a hundred bucks less, the LRF-1200. Remember with optics, you really do get what you pay for.
